Vehicle Examination (PG9)

Introduction

This course teaches the student how to examine motor vehicles including cars, motorcycles and large goods vehicles to ensure their compliance wiith the Construction and Use Regulations. Where faults are found, the method of reporting on them and where appropriate, prohibition procedures.

What you will study

With full regard to the student's own, and vehicular safety, to examine a vehicle, and using a good sequence of routine;

  • correctly identify components and their associated connections,
  • correctly describe the function of components and correctly,
  • remove those components to facilitate closer inspection where necessary.

With regard to any paperwork;

  • where appropriate accurately complete prohibition paperwork,
  • In relation to an investigation into a road traffic collision compile an accurate report and list any conclusions,
  • remove those components to facilitate closer inspection where necessary.

In regard to the law;

  • be conversant in the appropriate Acts and Regulations which confer powers and offences applicable to this course.

Classroom based with practical inputs.

What you will need

You will require overalls, safety glasses, a hard hat and safety boots.

Teaching and assessment

Your course tutors will help you with your studies during the course. They will mark and comment on your coursework.

Whats the qualification

Successful candidates will be awarded an IMI certificate.
