De Montfort University Forensic Collision Investigation
A nine month distance learning programme with one week residential summer school open to all occupations.

The Course starts by explaining the maths and physics necessary to understand the Course. Later modules apply these principles to the techniques used in collision reconstruction. This is reinforced during the practical module when students put these techniques into practice.

Throughout the Course emphasis is placed on understanding the methods used rather than just following rigid procedures.

Full tutor support is provided throughout. Tutors are also responsible for assessing students in a series of written assessments which count towards the final marks.

The Course ends with a written examination, prepared and marked by De Montfort University. Success in the assessments and the examination leads to the award of the University Continuing Professional Development Certificate (UCPDC) at Level 4.

On completion, successful students will be able to reconstruct road collisions and present their findings clearly in a written report.

Students will be able to explain how and why they came to particular conclusions and defend those conclusions under examination.

    • Successful candidates gain a University Certificate.
    • Recognised by the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators (ITAI).
    • ACPO approved for UK police.
    • Tutor support provided.
